Update: recently came back here (for the first time in a long time, I've decreased my taco consumption by quite a bit in the last year) in early Jan 2019 and was surprised to hear that their prices are higher. Tacos are now $1.75 per, which is kind of steep for street tacos IMO. I guess they are a liiittle larger than usual, but I was still in shock a bit.

I also called in my order at 6:55pm when I was on my way home from work. They told me it would be "5-10min". I got there around 7:15-7:20 and they told me they were "still working on it." It was pretty apparent they had not even started the order yet. I didn't end up getting my order until ~7:35pm, which was 40 min after I called it in. It was pretty annoying and I can tell it happened to the numerous other people who also called in their orders as well.

At $1.75/taco and with a wait, not sure this place is worth it anymore. The tacos also did not taste as good as I remembered, I felt like the tortillas weren't as great a texture and the taste was just okay. I've adjusted my rating due to my most recent experience.

    -------------------

Let me preface this with the fact that there are MANY, MANY taco trucks in the area. You basically just have to drive down Eagle Rock Blvd a bit and you're bound to find one within maybe 2 blocks.

That being said, a lot of the trucks have their ups and downs and I haven't yet been able to find one that didn't have a downside, whether it was too long a wait, their hours were inconsistent, their meat was too salty... until now. Gorditas Lupita is now my go-to spot.

Firstly, you can call your order in advance. How awesome is that?! So even though it is known to have a wait (since they make their tortillas in-house!!!), you can avoid it if you just call them in advance and put in your order. And the two times I've come here now (around peak dinner time), I've only ever seen one or two customers at the truck--great sign if you're not looking to wait but I also do want them to stay in business, so pls visit!!!

Secondly, as I previously mentioned, their tortillas are homemade! They're thicker than most taco trucks' tortillas, so I feel like I get full on less tacos. They also give a healthy amount of meat, so the tacos being a bit more expensive are totally worth it in my opinion.

Third: logistics. Cash only, plenty of street parking next to the truck.

Overall, my boyfriend and I agreed that after eating this truck, we didn't feel heavy and the flavors were really natural. They've earned my loyalty!

    Zero Stars if possible.

They are racists secretly. Always giving the bad portion of meat to non-Latinos. Hard cartilage/inedible meat consuming most of the orders.

Wasted money eating 30% of the food paid for.

If the food was actually good, then I would've mentioned it.

The meat has a funky smell to it.

I would understand supporting neighborhood businesses but this is the one you would want to skip. Scandalous.

Incredible carne Asada burrito. The meat was crispy and perfectly charred. Best taco truck in the neighborhood!
